Day 1, Windjana Gorge
We pick you up from your accommodation from 6:30am and our first stop for the day is Windjana Gorge to take in some great scenery as we hike along the rivers edge of Windjana Gorge. This is an amazing gorge created over millions of years as the Lennard River has slowly cut through an ancient reef to create the spectacular vertical cliffs. We hike along the the edge of the gorge where there is always lots of bird life and freshwater crocodiles.
Tunnel Creek is a 750 mtere long cave system through which a creek flows, we grab the torches and walk the full length of the creek in waste deep water, it's a fantastic experience swimming underground and the bats flying around do their best to scare even the bravest adventurers!
From Tunnel Creek we head to our first Kimberley campsite (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2, Echidna Chasm - Bungles
From here the 5 day 4WD Kimberley Tour heads out to the Victoria Highway where you can enjoy the smooth ride via the sealed highway through Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek. We turnoff at Tutrkey Creek and head into the Bungle Bungles on a 4WD track that is slow and rough, taking 2 hours to do the 50km stretch.
The Bungle Bungles have been 20 million years in the making as a huge slab of rock has slowly lifted, cracked and eroded, the landscape consists of huge rounded domes up to 400 metres high in a variety of colours, disected by deep gorges, many containing permanent water, lush vegitation and birdlife.
We visit Echidna Chasm on the north side of the Bungle Bungles which a spectacular narrow gorge with huge vertical cliffs.
After the Echidna Chasm walk we head to a nearby lookout to watch the sunset over the domes, as the sun set the domes change color and makes for a great show which rivals that other great central Australian sunset at Uluru. Tonight you can enjoy a campfire dinner in the heart of the Bungle Bungels and have a go at playing the didgeridoo. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 3, Piccaninny Creek - Bungles
Today we move to the southern side of the Bungle Bungles and start the day with an optional helicopter flight over the area (own expense). The first stop is a spectacular Domes Walk through Piccaninny Creek and onto Cathedral Gorge, this is a magnificant natural cathederal This afternoon we make our way back to the highway and up towards Kununurra where after setting up camp this evening you can spend some time stargazing under The southern skies. (Breakfast, lunch, Dinner)
Day 4, Emma Gorge - El Questro
This morning we make our way back onto the Gibb River road to reach El Questro Station. A couple of the magnificent gorges on El Questro station are Emma Gorge and El Questro Gorge. Both of these gorges feature great scenery and cool, clear water, Take some time exploring one of these gorges and enjoy swimming in the crystal clear pools. Stop at Ivanhoe Crossing for lunch and then on into Kununurra before crossing into the Northern Territory on our way to Victoria River for our overnight camp. The evening is open to Wildlife spotting, playing didgeridoo or just relaxing - the choice is yours. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 5, Kimberley Rock Art
What better way to start the day than by relaxing in a series of thermal pools known as Zebedee Hot Springs. The hot springs are located in a picturesque surrounding of palms and the water temperature is perfect to just laze about and enjoy the scenery around you. Next we go for a hike along Amalia Gorge which takes us to a beautiful waterfall with a large plunge pool for swimming, this is another of El Questro stations jewels that you are going to love.
After spending the morning at El Questro station we take you to look at some of the famous Kimberley Rock Art where you can get an insight into the local Aboriginal lifestyle and Culture. Stop at Ivanhoe Crossing for lunch and then on into Kununurra before crossing into the Northern Territory on our way to Timber Creek for our overnight camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
