This 4WD Kimberley Tour strikes the perfect balance between Adventure and Comfort, while still packing in plenty of swimming and hiking, and while still visiting all the main Gibb River Road waterfalls and Gorges and spending a full day and night in the Bungle Bungles, the rough edge is taken off by preferring to stay in campgrounds where there are some facilities. The actual facilities at the campgrounds vary, and there is still even a couple of bush camps, but where campgrounds are available, they are used.
The other difference with this tour is that a more comfortable vehicle is used, the custom built 4WD trucks, while built for the rugged and rough roads in the Kimberley, generally have a smoother ride and are fitted out with coach style, forward facing seats.
The Kimberley region of northern Western Australia is sensational, at 421,000 square kilometers in the size is much bigger than the United Kingdom (242 900 km ²) and about as big as Japan. it has gorges filled with fresh water, waterfalls, crocodiles, ancient Aboriginal rock paintings and carvings and is recognized as one of the last frontiers of wilderness exploration in Australia
Kimberley Hike
The activities on tour are designed to get you out of the truck and into the wilderness. At most of the gorges and waterfalls along the Gibb River Road, it is possible to climb to the top of the falls and in some cases also hike back along the creeks, where more waterfalls and swimming holes can be found
There are 8 splendid Kimberley sunsets to enjoy along the way and a bit of wildlife spotting in the mix. The Bungle Bungles are sensational and there is a number of hikes which can be done there as well as an optional helicopter flight.
Small Friendly Groups
Group sizes on this tour are between 16 and 21 depending on the vehicle which is used, while not too big that you get lost in the crowd, the groups are the ideal size for a bit of social interaction, these tours are normally a lot of fun and always contain a mix of people from young to old, and from Aussies to internationals. Many friends have been made while sitting around the campfire at the end of huge Kimberley day.
Kimberley Bush Camp
Campgrounds with facilities are the preferred camping method on these tours, the actual camps vary from a couple of bush camps, with no facilities, to caravan parks with full shower and toilet facilities, to anything in between.
Camping is in swags around the campfire, or tents can be used if you prefer (please request a tent a the time of booking). All camping equipment is supplied except sleeping bags, these can be purchased for $50 or you can bring your own.
